“We are pleased the Government has acted on our call for an extension to the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund and provided additional funding.
Responding to the announcement that the Government is expanding support for adopted children and extending the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund, Cllr Amanda Hopgood, Chair of the Local Government Association’s Children, Young People and Families Committee, said:
“We are pleased the Government has acted on our call for an extension to the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund and provided additional funding.
“This fund is a lifeline for many adopted children and their families. However the annual nature of the fund has previously limited the ability of councils and Regional Adoption Agencies to plan support, creating uncertainty for families.
“This announcement will help to provide assurance that ongoing specialist support is available when it is most needed, and make an enormous difference to the lives of children and young people.”
