The LGA responds to the Government’s announcement of a new Youth Jobs Grant, expansion of the Jobs Guarantee and other investment to support young people into employment,

Responding to the Government’s announcement of a new Youth Jobs Grant, expansion of the Jobs Guarantee and other investment to support young people into employment, Cllr Tom Hunt, Chair of the Local Government Association’s Inclusive Growth Committee, said:
“We need to pull every lever to address youth employment and it is good to see further investment, alongside an expansion of the Jobs Guarantee up to those aged 24.
“Councils across the country are already playing a key role to support young people at 16 into education, employment and training. Expanding provision to create more apprenticeships will help to meet some of this demand.
“Councils, who know their communities best, stand ready to work with government, local employers and partners across all parts of the country to join up various elements of the Jobs Guarantee, so all young people have a coordinated local offer, no matter where they live.”
