The LGA responds to the launch of the Government’s National Procurement Policy Statement.

Responding to the launch of the Government’s National Procurement Policy Statement, Cllr Abi Brown OBE, Chairman of the Local Government Association’s Improvement and Innovation Board, said:
“This statement aligns with councils’ own missions of boosting local inclusive growth, creating jobs, supporting small businesses and championing innovation.
“Councils have been working extremely hard over the past year to get ready for implementation, with more than 5,000 officers undertaking training on the Procurement Act.
“We intend to open up our own National Procurement Strategy toolkit in the new financial year, to enable councils to use this as a benchmark for their procurement processes.
“Councils want to continue doing all they can to support their communities by investing in local goods and services whenever possible and this statement makes this more achievable.”
