Staff across all partners will need to understand where insights can support decision-making and use them to support care and/or service improvement.

Key actions

  • Leaders to ensure that the right processes, tools and technical support are in place to enable the relevant data driven insights and evidence to be available at the right times/frequency to support decision making at patient/individual, service and strategic level.
  • Ensure that the right training is put in place so that staff feel confident to do this.
  • Monitor the impact of these decisions by regularly reviewing KPIs to track benefits, including outcomes for individuals/patients, service efficiencies, workforce productivity, and effectiveness. (see High Impact Change 3)

  • Some staff have some understanding of where insights can be useful to support decision making at all levels, are prepared to use support tools to make this easier and are committed to building a culture to increase confidence in teams to use data insights.

  • There are inconsistencies but most staff are clear on where insights can be useful to support decision making, yet are not confident to do so consistently.
  • Automations are being developed.
  • Frequency of data-driven discussions and decisions using insights are increasing at patient/individual and strategic level.

Established

  • Staff at all levels across all partners are clear on where insights can be useful to support decision making, and are doing this confidently -for example, daily for tactical decision making.
  • Automations are in place.
  • Data-driven discussions and decisions using the insights are now business as usual at the patient/individual, service and strategic level.
  • KPIs show the impact on care as set out in the vision.

Exemplar

  • Tools are being used by staff at all levels, and insights are used to support real time decision making supported by predictive analysis and automatons where relevant.
  • Benefits realisation in terms of improved outcomes for people, more efficient delivery of services and driving strategic decisions.
