Responding to the release of the Work and Pension’s Select Committee on Creating a new jobs and careers service, Cllr Tom Hunt, Chair of the LGA’s Inclusive Growth Committee, said:
“Integrating Jobcentre Plus (JCP) with the national careers service (NCS) is a significant reform that must lead to a more seamless service for people looking to move into, and progress in work, as well as for employers looking to recruit.
“To make the new integrated service work for communities in different places, the LGA wants Government to work with councils and mayors to test new approaches so it can be more locally responsive, embedded and engaged.”
