Dear colleague,
I am writing to update you on the latest position regarding police staff pay negotiations on the 2025 Trade Unions Side’s pay and conditions claim.
The Trade Union Side’s claim is for:
- one-year claim
- a restorative above inflation increase of seven per cent minimum on all pay points
- an increase of seven per cent on standby allowance and overnight away from home allowance
- a minimum pay rate of £15 per hour
- an increase in the minimum annual leave on appointment from 24 to 25 days and from 29 to 30 days after five years’ service
- parity of funding for pay reform between police officers and police staff as part of the next comprehensive spending review settlement.
A Police Staff Council Working Party met on 29 August. In these negotiations, the Trade Union Side drew attention to other aspects of their claim beyond the overall pay increase. The Employers’ Side decided it was important to take more time to fully consider the information put forward at the meeting before returning to negotiations.
We remain committed to further negotiations with the Trade Union Side. All constituents of the Employers Side will continue to consider the best response to the pay claim and negotiations will resume at the next available opportunity which will be a meeting of the working party on 22 September. We will keep you informed of developments.
Yours sincerely
David Algie
