Local transparency guidance: Publishing spending and procurement information

Following The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG)'s 2025 update of its 2015 local government transparency code, we have updated the guidance document that focuses on the publishing of spending and procurement information.

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) published a local government transparency code in 2015 which sets out the data that local authorities should be publishing, the frequency it should be published and how it should be published. The LGA provides a set of practical guidance documents to support local authorities in understanding and implementing this and to help them publish the data in a meaningful and consistent way.

In 2025 MHCLG updated the code to add guidance for reconciling the publication requirements of the procurement act 2023 and the local government transparency code 2015. The LGA has therefore updated the guidance document that focuses on the publishing of spending and procurement information, to reflect this.
