The Supported Housing Network brings together councils and partners to share learning, shape policy, and respond to the evolving challenges facing the supported housing sector.
Supported housing plays a vital role in enabling people to live independently with dignity, safety, and support. It provides tailored accommodation for older people, disabled adults, those experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic abuse, and many others with complex needs.
The introduction of the Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act will bring significant changes to how supported housing is commissioned, regulated, and funded. At the same time, councils are facing increasing pressures from rising demand, constrained budgets, and a fragmented provider landscape.
The LGA Supported Housing Network was established to:
- support councils to implement the Act effectively and proportionately
- share good practice in commissioning, oversight, and partnership working.
- influence national policy by providing a collective local government voice
- strengthen relationships with providers, regulators, and government departments
- explore solutions to funding challenges and workforce capacity issues.
The network is open to local authority officers with responsibility for housing, adult social care, public health, commissioning, and regulatory services.
We host regular network meetings, webinars, and peer learning sessions. These provide opportunities to hear from councils, government officials, and sector experts, and to shape the LGA’s policy and lobbying work.
