Timescales and assessments in adult social care

It is important that people who need social care support are seen in a timely manner by the right professionals. It’s also important that councils can understand who is on their waiting lists for assessment or support and how long people wait. Identifying potential bottlenecks or areas of best practice can support development of a service that meets local needs.

In 2025/26 we have retained a contractor to create a generalised map of timescales and processes nationally. We also hope to support some councils to map their own processes and to identify any areas for development.
