In this case study we hear from Exeter City Council. Working with the LGA, the Council utilised the Decision-Making Accountability (DMA) review to reshape their senior leadership and cross-council working.
Following a Decision-Making Accountability review, East Hertfordshire underwent a significant leadership and structural transformation. The changes improved decision-making, enhanced member relationships, and prepared the council for Local Government Reorganisation.
On 1 April 2023, North Yorkshire Council (NYC) officially came into being: an ambitious union of seven district and borough councils with one county council.
Run by and for Disabled staff, SHINE was set up as a disability staff network creating a safe space for Disabled staff and those with long-term health conditions, all driven by personal experiences. Advocating for the Social Model of Disability, SHINE has been able to create meaningful change across Cumbria County Council, now split into Westmorland and Furness, and Cumberland Council.
Tower Hamlets Council faced the challenge of an ageing workforce and was eager to attract younger talent. They identified the T Level programme, as a valuable tool for supporting succession planning.
To support the Senior Leadership Team’s development we engaged with the LGA’s Emergenetic’s pilot which was used to help the team understand each others’ thinking and behaviour styles and which will be used to inform further development opportunities as we embark on a further period of change.
