The Strategic Markets Insights and Relationship programme equips councils with valuable market intelligence and insights into how their actions impact strategic suppliers.
This marks the fourth review of the LGA’s Strategic Supplier Relationship Management programme (SSRM), now renamed the Strategic Markets Insights and Relationship programme (SMIRP).
Originally commissioned by the LGA's National Advisory Group for Procurement in 2017, the programme was established to enhance communication and collaboration with strategic suppliers to local government and to help councils take a strategic, unified approach to understanding supplier markets and the companies operating within them.
The programme has proven effective in equipping councils with valuable market intelligence and insights into how their actions impact strategic suppliers, including areas of tension and inefficiency. The learning from the programme is encouraging a shift in how local government approaches its interactions with markets, laying the groundwork for more thoughtful and collaborative future engagements.
