The Government has recently announced a minimum of £14 million of funding to support local authorities with plan-making. Funding is available for both the current and new plans system and this webpage will run through the eligibility criteria and how to apply for the funding.

Funding will be available for

  • local authorities that are able to commit to starting a plan early in the new system and issuing a notice of intention to commence local plan preparation by 30 June 2026, including those affected by the NPPF transitional arrangements,
  • local authorities that are progressing a plan in the legacy system and who will submit their plan to examination by 31 December 2026.
  • Anyone else who considers themselves eligible
