Strategic Planning

PAS's support for strategic planning and spatial development strategies.

Strategic planning is returning. The Government is progressing legislation to create a strategic level of planning through the Planning and Infrastructure Act (the PIA – enacted Dec 25) and the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill (published in July 25). Strategic planning is central to the government’s ambition to deliver 1.5 million homes and economic growth. The PIA introduces a system of strategic planning in England via the tool of Spatial Development Strategies (SDSs). The EDCEB introduces strategic authorities for all areas of England and Mayoral planning powers.
