Today, the Home Affairs Committee have released their report into funding for tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG), which the LGA gave evidence to. Cllr Heather Kidd, Chair of the LGA's SSCB, said “Councils are deeply committed to tackling violence against women and girls, domestic abuse and sexual violence."

Temperatures in some parts of the country are set to peak at 32C over the next six days, and people are being urged to look out for their vulnerable and older family, friends and neighbours who are most at risk during the hot weather.

The Deputy Prime Minister announced the launch of the new Council Housebuilding Support Service, a fully funded initiative to boost council-led housebuilding across England.

Today, the Government has announced a raft of measures to boost social housing. Responding, Cllr Adam Hug, Housing spokesperson for the LGA, said: “This is a meaningful step towards addressing the housing crisis we face and helping to deliver the social and affordable homes needed."
