Family Hubs are central to the government’s ambition to create a coordinated, accessible and relationship centred support system for families from conception to age 19 (or 25 for SEND). They form a key pillar of the Best Start in Life (BSIL) strategy, which brings together early years, health, parenting and community support into a coherent local offer. Their growth reflects strong evidence that early intervention, integrated working and family-led design improve outcomes for children and reduce future inequalities.

This article summarises national guidance, the evolving policy landscape, and emerging best practice, with a particular focus on the Local Government Association’s role in leading the National Centre for Family Hubs (NCFH) from 2025.
